Working in pairs, students may come to recognize that their own intuition, along with the trust they build with a partner, are powerful elements for creating and inventing something “new” together.
Students will perform their own insulation investigations in order to better understand how to minimize heat loss while out in the cold. Students will construct small shelters then test their effectiveness at combating the cold over time.
Invasive species out-compete native plants, which our park was created to protect. We can help promote the success of the natives by removing the invaders.
This is a very open-ended activity that involves collecting invertebrates from foliage using a shake-sheet. Emphasis is on developing a question and experimental design.
In this lab, learners will use pitfall traps to explore the population of ground-dwelling creatures. These traps are used to sample the surrounding environment for living organisms.
