The goal of this activity is for students to write about the natural world using the Grinnell method of journaling. They will learn about the importance of the scientific method and its ability to shape human understanding of the natural world.
This visual shows some of the data from the Grinnell resurvey. It shows a contraction in elevation for the presence of the golden mantled ground squirrel and pika.
These tree identification cards include information to identify a tree, learn how the tree may be used, and an interesting fact about that species. Trees included could allow you to use this set at BRC or in Yosemite Valley.
Students hear the story, The Lorax, and have an opportunity to ask the characters questions. Who was responsible for what happened— the Lorax (environmentalist), the Onceler (business interests), or the Chap (consumer)? The students will decide.
